Your Donations Are Changing Lives

The best way to get the orphans of La Gonave what they need is through monetary donations. When we buy food and supplies in Haiti, we save on shipping and help support the local economy.
We also accept new and gently used backpacks, clothing and personal items for boys and girls ages 1 to 16 years.
Please scroll down for fund raising ideas for "Our Haiti Orphans."

Shopping vs Shipping
With donated funds to Backpacks 4 Haiti, we shop at a local market for rice, beans, vegetables, oil and other staples, as well as clothing and supplies for the children. This saves on costly shipping from the United Sates, and also goes a long way toward supporting the Haitian economy.
Blessings
We bring food and supplies to the Baptist Church in Nan Cafe, a small farming village, where the deacon of the church oversees the orphans until we build our orphanage and school in Anse-a-Galets.
FUND RAISING THOUGHT STARTERS

For Individuals
A contribution to OurHaitiOrphans.org in any amount is tax deductible. We can  direct your donation to where it's needed most, or you can choose to sponsor an orphan. If you want to go this route, contact us and we'll arrange to match you and one or more of the children.

Garage Sale for La Gonave: Hold a multi-family garage sale of donated items, with proceeds going to OurHaitiOrphans.org.  Take a look at these customizable posters/flyers to let people know about the cause you're working for.

Lemonade for La Gonave: In warm weather, kids can set up a lemonade stand, letting customers know the money they raise is going toward helping orphans on La Gonave. In cold weather, try a hot chocolate stand near a local sledding hill or skating rink.
Gifts that give back: Make a tax deductible donation in a friend or family member's name. Let us know and we'll send a special thank you letter to you and the gift recipient.
For Service Projects
Looking for a service project? OurHaitiOrphans.org can help you set up a line of communication with an adult overseeing the orphans of La Gonave to help  pin down what kind of activity would work best for you.
Backpacking for La Gonave: Organize a hike, from a single day in the woods to a week in the mountains, and ask participants to raise money in the form of pledges per mile hiked. Use social media, word of mouth and local print and radio PSAs to recruit hikers and sponsors.
For School Groups
OurHaitiOrphans.org wants to send every orphan on La Gonave to school. Education isn't free in Haiti - but with your help, tuition is within reach. Your class, grade or entire school can plan a fundraiser, such as a talent show, concert, bake sale, car wash, race, sports event or charity dance.

Alternatively, if your school is planning a large function, ask to set up an Our Haiti Orphans table. One idea is to sell donated baked goods, crafts or cold water out of a cooler, putting up a poster and a stack of flyers about your cause.
Auction for Education: Collect donations from local families and business, including items (books, plants, picture frames, tickets, sports equipment) and services (such as a CPA donating tax services, a dentist offering a checkup, an hour of tutoring...) and hold a silent auction. Be sure everyone knows your goal in supporting OurHaitiOrphans.org.
Visit the Island: If your school, church, medical or community group is interested in planning a hands-on visit to La Gonave to meet the children or help build our orphanage & school, please get in touch –  we'll help you set it up.

For Church Groups
In small villages like Degoute and Nan Cafe, everything centers on the church. You can help fortify the tiny church that watches over La Gonave's orphans by raising funds that will be used exclusively for the orphans. On the island of La Gonave, bolstered by Our Haiti Orphans , the church helps children find somewhere to stay off the streets, and something to eat, until our orphanage and school is up and running. Take a look at our printable posters for ideas.
Do you have a mission group looking for somewhere to make a difference? Do people in your church have skills such as architecture, plumbing, electrical wiring or teaching? Get in touch and we'll help you plan a meaningful visit to La Gonave.

For Corporations and Charitable Organizations
Your generous sponsorship is most needed toward planning and building an orphanage and school. The Rotary Club is involved in helping us with clean water.

Is your company or organization looking for a worthy charity? OurHaitiOrphans.org will support you in return, via an Awareness Campaign within our social network, website, printed materials, and marketing. OurHaitiOrphans.org guarantees all the funds or supplies will go directly to support the orphans of La Gonave, not disappear in red tape and sticky pockets.

If you have a group looking to come to Haiti for a hands-on experience such as building, teaching or medical support, link through here to plan a visit where you can interact with the orphans and make the most difference.

Based in Cape Coral, Florida, OurHaitiOrphans.org is a 501c3 tax deductible charity under the charter of Orphans of Isle De La Gonave, D'Haiti, Inc.
